How long will the items remain sterile in the iQ24 Electronic Steam Sterilizer? For a maximum of 6 hours in Mode 1, provided the lid is not removed. For a maximum of 24 hours in Mode 2 if unopened. Can you sterilize all baby products in an electric steam sterilizer, such as pacifiers and teething rings?Always check the manufacturers' guidelines for sterilizing, but generally, provided the product can be boiled, it can be steam sterilized. Sometimes a brown residue builds up in the bottom of my electric steam sterilizer. What is it?The build up is lime scale or iron deposits which are easily removed by de-scaling using either of the following methods: EITHER: 1. Mix one of the enclosed sachets of citric acid (10gms) with 200ml of water. Pour into the empty sterilizer. Do not put lid on. Switch on for 1-2 minutes. Switch off at mains and leave to stand for 30 minutes. Drain and rinse out the sterilizer. Run a full cycle empty with the lid on, using exactly 90ml of water. Wipe out the sterilizer. (Citric Acid is available from most chemists - avoid contact with eyes as this may cause irritation. Keep out of reach of children.) OR: 2. Pour 100ml vinegar mixed with 200ml cold water into sterilizer. Allow to stand in the unit until any lime scale has dissolved. Empty the unit and rinse thoroughly. |
