Reduces colic
Baby naturally controls milk flow
The Airflex Teat works with baby’s natural feeding rhythm. Your baby controls milk flow more like breastfeeding, which can help reduce overeating and spit-up.
A unique skirt system, with a built in one-way air valve at its base flexes to allow air into the bottle to prevent a vacuum, whilst milk flows at a pace that baby controls. This promotes healthy, active feeding and reduces colic.
You may hear the Airflex valve quietly working, but watch as the bubbles move away from the teat – that’s your guarantee that air is going into the bottle, not into baby’s tummy. The naturally shaped teat promotes proper latch-on and makes it easier to combine breast and bottle feeding. Learn more about how Airflex works.

Questions and answers

What flow rate of teat should I use for my baby?

Babies are unique. What suits one baby may not suit another. Philips AVENT bottles are fitted with Slow flow teats as standard. Other available options are:

  • Newborn flow: 1 hole, suitable for breastfed and/or premature babies
  • Slow flow, 2 holes: slightly faster flow than Newborn flow
  • Medium flow: 3 holes, for 3 months & older
  • Fast flow: 4 holes, for 6 months & older
  • Variable flow: with a slot instead of holes, for 3 months onwards

If you find your baby becoming unhappy or tired during feeding, or if the feeding sessions regularly seem to be taking much longer than before, these may be signs that you need to move up to the next flow rate. Don't worry if you never change flow rates or if you change flow rates frequently. Some babies need different flow rates at different times of the day. Some babies eat vigorously at the beginning of a feed and then slow down at the end.
