HDMI 1080p upscaling gives you relentlessly sharp images by eliminating the line structure prevalent on TV screens. It reproduces the number of pixels in standard definition to reach high definition resolution of 1920 x 1080. The Progressive Scan process means that instead of odd numbered lines and even numbered lines appearing in succession on the screen (as in the interlacing method), they appear on the screen at the same time to create a full image instantaneously. At such speeds, the human eye perceives a sharper picture with no line structure. So you get to see more picture and less lines.
